Today's Hair Inspiration:" Health before Length"

Though many will be wondering if I have abandoned this blog, NO, school has simply been determined to destroy my live. But exams are almost over and I'm graduating soon!! and my vacation is about to begin!! and well in extension MORE UPDATES!
Firstly....I HAD A SET BACK. Well...I should not call it a "set back" exactly...to be completely honest, it was a CONSCIOUS set back. I mentioned here that I'd reached APL (arm pit length) a couple months ago but since then gradually I have been cutting my ends off. Why, you may ask? My first relaxer did not go so well (and I mean my verrryyy first) so I made the decision to cut off my thin, over processed hair gradually and I have been doing so effectively. At the moment my hair is extremely thick! Sometimes I forget that I even have a relaxer! And although I have returned to SL (shoulder length) I have achieved exactly what I wanted,  thick, healthy relaxed  hair.I am currently 10 weeks post relaxer (my last relaxer was in March) and my new growth is not troublesome just yet, surprisingly.

I'm also trying some new products, finally adding moisture to my hair regimen. My staple products: Mega Growth Break Free Leave in Strengthener, Mega Growth Deep Conditioner (Protein), ORS Moisturizing Lotion and Coconut Oil have  remained but I have since changed my Shampoos (including a Sulfate Free to my regimen), Conditioner, Moisturizing Deep Conditioner, added a new styling products and "hot oil" treatment. Products in italic have been mentioned and reviewed here previously, those in bold will be reviewed soon as they are currently still in trial mode and I am making my decisions about them along the way.

As a go-to protective style I have resorted to the infamous Senegalese twists, finally learning how to do them myself, but I will not be doing this style on my hair regularly as it can repossess length as quickly as it helps to achieve it and I am determined not to get unnecessary breakage. Also, the decision to color my hair has been replaying in my mind for past couple months. Although it is have stated that coloring relaxed hair can be  dangerous I have been convinced that it may be a risk I am willing to take - in a matter of time. As for now, I am cautiously listening to my hair and observing it's likes and dislikes, and depending on it's condition I will then schedule a day to change my color.

Missed me? Because...I missed you! =)

Wow! I am neglecting my blogger duties! Shame on me! I am deeply and truly sorry you all. I've been really busy with balancing school and my personal life that I had to put this on hold for a while. As many would know Trinidad and Tobago celebrated Carnival at the end of February and so being a very patriotic citizen I played my part parading on the nation's streets to Soca, Calypso and Steelpan. It was the ultimate experience! And now exams is slowly approaching and well the stress of it all is also becoming over-powering with the rush of getting projects done and studying....

...But onto a more stress free topic =)

Rememer my decision to stretch my relaxer? Well I am currently 9 weeks post relaxer ( this Wednesday 14th March will make it 10 weeks) and my God have my hair grown! I continue to follow my hair regimen with the use of the same products which have helped a lot to not only moisturise but also strenghten my hair. I finger comb my hair instead of combing it out and that has helped a lot in preventing breakage! My goal at the moment is to stretch for at least 16 to 17 weeks and this is the FIRST time that I'm doing a stretch of so long so I'm being very observant, patient and gentle with my hair.

My head tie and silk bonnet have become my best friends. I don't sleep without them and sometimes I want to where them all day, err'day! I massage my hair every night after my ritual of moisturising and sealing and I am very proud of my results thus far. =) Just a couple more weeks to go!

My Review
Firstly the smell is just amazing! My hair felt so soft the instant I applied it to my hair but as usual I slept overnight with a plastic cap on and rinsed in the next day. I was honestly very pleased. On air drying my hair still felt soft and moisturised! After the fourth use I felt the difference in my hair. It appeared healthier and was actually stronger. Did I forget to mention my ever-growing new growth! I am so excited and pleased! I am not definitely not disappointed with the results I have witnessed thus far and I highly recommend this product. =)

Product Review: Profective Growth & Repair Oil Free Serum

Ok so I was performing my daily hair routine today and I noticed that my hair has definitely grown out and is alot softer than it use to be....excitementsss!!!!! I, however cannot take all the credit for such accomplishments so I hereby thank Profectiv Growth & Repair Oil Free Serum for its  awesome results! Now I did not know about this product and before I try new products I usually Google it (yuuup I Google EVERYTHING), but I just happened to come across this product while looking for a hair oil and decided to try it out, also on purchasing the product when I did actually get to Google this I found nothing, not even from my favorite hair gurus, so I was completely alone . Now this is Oil Free so to me it's like a moisturizer and its water based too so that's a plus in my book! ;) On the first trial my hair felt alot softer and 48 hours later, still moisturised. I was extremely pleased (^_^). Approximately one week later I noticed alot of new growth. I have been using this product for 1 month now and  I use it with my Motions leave in conditioner and seal it with my coconut oil daily, or as desired, and apparently this method worked for me. The BONUS however is the effect this had on my new growth. My hair is very thick and dry so breakage occurs very easily....and well, it's SOFT NOW! You can't imagine how grateful I am! Combing my hair is less depressing because I'm not no longer shedding. My plan is to go 12 weeks without a relaxer and I was having my doubts at first but today I grew really confident after noticing my results. Do not be discouraged by the presentation of this product though, it is in fact for all hair types so have a try if you are in the process of growing your hair and tell me your opinion on it. And if you have tried this product already, what are your views? Did you like it as much as I did?

The Coconut Oil Revolution

Turn up the Caribbean music because this has to be one of my favorite hair products....I MUST SAY! I found out a couple months ago that coconut oil does wonders to the hair and went out and bought myself a bottle of Pure Coconut Oil. My hair was grateful. Approximately 24 hours after applying it to my scalp and hair I felt the difference in the texture and I noticed less breakage while performing manipulation tasks (combing, braid outs, etc). It immediately earned a spot on my "Favorite Hair Products List."

The reason for the use of Pure Coconut Oil was because I did not want any additives in the product and desired the full effect of the product in its original state.  However, I did decide to purchase a Coconut Oil that is not so"pure" and that is the Organic Root Stimulator Coconut Oil. For a long time I have heard of positive results on this product and the ORS brand is one that I do trust. Although the results were good, to me this product did not work as well as I desired and so I  often co-ordinate it with the Pure Coconut Oil in my hair care routine.

I'm sure many are curious as to how coconut oil helps the hair. It is found that this particular oil is the ONLY oil that reduces protein loss - because of the lauric acid it contains- rejuvenating damaged hair protecting  undamaged hair. It strengthens the hair, reduces shedding and promotes hair growth by penetrating the hair from inside the hair shaft! Oh and depending on your supplier it's very inexpensive too! Can't get any better than that! :) You can include this oil in your deep conditioners and do hot oil treatments with it as a means to strengthen the hair faster.

Regenerate your damaged hair or prevent future damage with nature's gifts and include it in your hair regimen for strong, healthy, long hair. (^_^)
